Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.33% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the declined 0.33%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:), which rose 13.03% or 111.40 points to trade at 966.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Inpex Corp. (TYO:) added 4.45% or 94.00 points to end at 2,206.00 and Tokyu Fudosan (TYO:) was up 3.92% or 40.50 points to 1,074.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 4.86% or 1,810.00 points to trade at 35,410.00 at the close. Lasertec Corp (TYO:) declined 4.29% or 1,710.00 points to end at 38,130.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:) was down 4.15% or 101.00 points to 2,331.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1942 to 1712 and 225 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 13.03% or 111.40 to 966.20. Shares in Tokyu Fudosan (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.92% or 40.50 to 1,074.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.74% to 21.36.

Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.17% or 0.14 to $81.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.18% or 0.15 to hit $85.27 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 4.55 to trade at $2,172.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 148.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 161.32.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.06.
