Following the granting of regulatory approval, the new chair has taken over from interim chair Penny James, who took on the role following the resignation of Deanna Oppenheimer.
Oppenheimer withdrew her resolution to seek re-election at December 2023’s annual general meeting one week before shareholders were set to convene.

Oppenheimer faced significant pressure from shareholders to step down after a six year tenure over concerns raised about the company’s leadership and cost management.
HL had reported a string of disappointing financial results, reporting lower growth across the business in the third quarter of 2023, which collided with it falling out of the FTSE 100 in the final rebalance in 2024.
