A New Immersive Art Exhibition on the Sistine Chapel Is Coming to New Jersey Mall

The similarities between Rome and Paramus, New Jersey, are legion, and soon there will be one more point of commonality: Michelangelo’s hallowed paintings in the Sistine Chapel. The setting will be the Westfield Garden State Plaza shopping mall, and the occasion will be “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition,” an “immersive experience” opening April 10.

“Rated 4.8 stars globally, the exhibition faithfully recreates all 34 of Michelangelo’s ceiling and altar masterpieces using licensed high-resolution imagery and an advanced printing technique,” reads a press release (which deserves some credit for not bumping that rating up to 5). “From The Creation of Adam to The Last Judgment, every fresco is rendered in vivid detail, allowing visitors to explore the emotion, depth, and artistry of the Vatican’s most celebrated space—without crowds, time limits, or a trip to Rome.”

A “verified guest review” of the traveling exhibition from Fedel S. counts as a rave: “I doubt that I may ever have the opportunity to visit the real Sistine Chapel, so this exhibit gave me an informative and beautiful representation of what I might see.”

SEE Global Entertainment, the company behind the Sistine Chapel show, has organized touring exhibitions related to Star Trek, King Tut, the Titanic, The X-Files, Michael Jackson, Bansky, and Frida Kahlo, as well as McQueen PROVOCATEUR™ EXPERIENCE, Museum of Failure, and Disgusting Food Museum,.

The Westfield Garden State Plaza mall is home to Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, as well as more than 200 fashion stores, 40-plus restaurants, and a “multisensory experience” called Dopamine Land.
