Beeple Superfan ‘Metakovan’ to Launch Art & Tech Studio in Singapore

A new experimental space dedicated to the intersection of art and technology will open this November at Tanjong Pagar Distripark in Singapore. Padimai Art & Tech Studio will launch with Your view matter (2022/25), a VR work by artist Olafur Eliasson that was commissioned by the studio’s founder, technologist and collector Vignesh Sundaresan, also known as Metakovan.

The initiative comes four years after Sundaresan’s record-breaking $69.3 million purchase of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days, a sale that thrust blockchain-based art into the global spotlight. Padimai, an independent entity, aims to move the conversation beyond speculation, toward long-term questions of technological infrastructure, digital sovereignty, and collective memory.

In Your view matter, Eliasson guides participants through six geometric virtual environments shaped after the five Platonic solids and a sphere. Animated moiré patterns respond to movement, accompanied by a minimalist soundtrack composed by the artist. The work continues Eliasson’s long-running exploration of perception and one’s awareness of the environment around them.

The presentation features seven VR stations, each within a 13-foot circular area that allows free movement. Every encounter generates a unique data file capturing the visitor’s trajectory and point of view. These files are stored within a blockchain-based archive conceived by Sundaresan, designed as a decentralized system capable of “playing back and playing forward” each recorded journey while maintaining the artwork’s exact digital state. According to Sundaresan, the archive reflects Padimai’s central mission: to build systems where artists and communities can store and preserve their work independently of corporate platforms.

Padimai will function as both a physical venue and an intellectual framework, hosting residencies, commissions, and exhibitions focused on emerging artistic and technological practices. Located in the same complex as the Singapore Art Museum’s contemporary art space, it will be free to the public.

Your view matter will run from November 20, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
