UK retail sales fall 3.3% in November in ‘bad start to festive season’

According to data released by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) today (3 December), the November 2024 figure stood below both the three-month and 12-month averages of -0.1% and 0.5%, respectively.

Food sales increased 2.4% year-on-year between September and November, against a growth of 7.6% in the same period last year.
Non-food sales dropped 2.1% over the three months to November, higher than the 1.6% decline reported in November 2023.
